North Valley Hotel, Colne 24/8/08. Thanks to everybody who packed into the place and gave us a rousing reception last night. It was good to go out on a high! It was good to meet some friends from previous years and, who knows, if schedules permit and we can persuade Jon to pick up the sticks again we may be able to do it again. Check out Lincoln with the Chantel McGregor Band, click here.
FANDANGO BROTHERS: 2008 GIGS TO BE LAST. The Fandango Brothers have decided to bow out at the end of 2008 as other projects involving some band members are taking so much time that the Fandango Brothers diary for 2008 is now almost "frozen". Chillo will be playing with the Kahunas (amongst others), see Lincoln with Coast (amongst others) and check back here regularly to see what Steve is up to - a rock/blues project is in preparation with some notable personnel to be involved. Hopefully, the Brothers will be reunited in some form for special occasions etc. We hope to see as many old friends as possible over the remaining gigs and look forward to making new ones in future. (Thanks to the Guys, Kate and everyone who gave their support at gigs and help with the band over the last 11 1/2 years. Steve)
What they say....... "They are good, no two ways about it.....a great set by the Fandango Brothers. They were brilliant." BluesMatters Magazine. "This band just knocked the place out. Great Band...... Great Night!" www.rockofthenorth.com "Top Boogie Rock Band" Limelines Publication ( Limelight Club, Crewe) "it was great to hear a band who had heard the songs before - the earlier repertoire especially, and played them with passion." Email feedback from Limelight Club gig 29/8/04. As one of the 100 or folks to see the band's final gig, here's a big 'Thank you' to the band for rocking out - and enjoying it - to the last note of the last song. We know that you'll all appear in other bands soon, but it's going to be hard to replace the vibe that was the Fandango Brothers. Best of luck in all your ventures and please let us all know if you ever get together again... Cheers! INTRODUCTION TO THE FANDANGO BROTHERS. Following their formation in Sheffield in 1997 by founder members Steve and Chillo, along with Andreas Moser (drums - see Link) and Chris Howard (Bass)the Band embarked on a period of intensive rehearsal to develop an AUTHENTIC ZZ Top sound taking material and inspiration from albums up to and including "Eliminator" - the period favoured by many ZZ Top fans, who's comments are always appreciated. They took the name Thee Zee Top and embarked on a busy gigging schedule receiving acclaim in venues across Lincolnshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire. The Band have since established a reputation for more diverse Classic Rock and Blues whilst maintaining their unique ZZ Top affiliation. In response to public demand, the band have developed the range of material performed to include music from artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh and Thin Lizzie to name but a few. Recently, following the departure of Chris and Andreas, the band have recruited Lincoln John Roth and Howlin' Jon Davies and will continue to promote their special brand of Sheffield/Texas Boogie at venues old and new! They recently took on their present name (borrowed from the ZZ Top live album "Fandango") to maintain the ZZ Top association but allowing more varied musical directions. DO NOT CONFUSE THE BAND WITH OTHERS FROM THE NORTH OF ENGLAND HAVING A SIMILAR NAME!! Please return as often as possible to the site and check out the latest Fandango Brothers news. |

NEWS. Chipp's Birthday 16th February 2008. Big apologies for not making the gig - the first time ever we failed to make a gig through vehicle problems. Steve had two hours shivering beside the M1 (arriving home £160 poorer) and Lincoln's van failed to start. I hope the Rock Disco and Jam session saved the day and a good night was still had by all.
"Howlin'" Jon Davies Joins The Fandango Brothers. After a long search, complicated by work overseas and family illness, we can finally announce that the drum seat will be VERY ably filled by Jon with immediate effect. He may be familiar to some on the local music scene (and further afield - see Band Members page). Jon's influences cover many areas of Rock and Blues. He has an impressive knowledge of ZZ Top material from their early years and is definitely a high quality addition to the line up - we're really looking forward to gigging with him.
"Lincoln" Joins The Fandango Brothers. Following the decision by Chris to move on to other pursuits, we're pleased to welcome a new member to the band on Bass duties. He's Lincoln John Roth (or John as friends call him). See his biog here. Lincoln has been very active gigging in the UK following a period in the USA where he studied Bass Guitar under some eminent tutors.
NEW Guest Book. Please visit the NEW Guest Book by clicking on this link and feel free to make any (clean) suggestions and/or observations as the band are continually striving for perfection! The new layout should make it much easier to exchange information with the band and keep us abreast with your view.

JOKE OF THE WEEK.
And Then the Fight Started.
I rear-ended a car
this morning. So, there we were alongside the road
and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... he was a DWARF!!! He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!' So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?' |
